Top 4 Ways to Fix Windows 10 Screensaver Not Working 2017 “I have recently upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10. My screen saver does not appear to activate now. I have tried looking into my power options and I don't see anything wrong. Screen saver works fine in preview mode, just never triggers no matter what I set the interval to. I have checked that it is still setup to work in the Screen Saver Settings window. On that window, if I click on preview, the screens flicker, go black for a minute, and then return to the way they had been before after a few seconds. And the screensaver never activates.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Picasa, didn't help.Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Hi!Firstly, thanks to whomever can assist me with this baffling issue. I'll start with my setup.Server 2008 R2 Domain, Windows 7 client (brand new HP laptop), 64 bit OS.We have a GPO set to lock the PC's after 10 minutes of idle time. The user then would have to enter credentials when back at their desk. We have a mix of Win 7 and XP clients, and all is working except for 1 win 7 machine (specifically, the above client). Unfortunately, this is of course our VP's machine and it's a large security concern for him as he obviously has a lot of important and confidential emails, that he doesn't want anyone to just be able to browse when he's not in his office.Performing a GPRESULT, it does show that the GPO is getting applied. However, his screen doesn't lock and just remains on and the machine remains open.Has anyone ever ran into this where it is just one machine out of 20 that is not actually behaving correctly as to what the GPO it is receiving??? This situation has me baffled.Any ideas or assistance would be greatly appreciated.Cheers!Neil. If you run rsop.msc on the machine and drill down to the screensaver setting in the resultant set of policy, when you open the screensaver setting on the Precedence tab, are there any other group policies that are reported as having this setting that maybe conflicting with the desired setting? Please check and post back the results. ![]() Windows 8.1 Display Not Turning OffThanks.Best Regards,Bob.If you found this comment to be the solution or helpful, consider marking it as such belowDisclaimer: This posting is provided 'AS IS' with no warranties or guarantees, and confers no rights. Martin,I logged in as him on another win7 machine I have in my office, and it indeed, shows doing a gpresult, the same information. However, this machine did lock automatically in the correct time-frame.This wasn't working on another win7 machine I had put in his office, and then suddenly (because it was working initially.) stopped working on his new Laptop.Haven't tried anyone else logging onto his machine yet, but I'll see if I can do that while he's on lunch tomorrow. He usually has a ton of stuff open so I don't like to mess with it when he's out but I'll see what I can do in the next day or so.Cheers!Neil. Neil,Can you describe the layout of your Active Directory Organizational Units? Ok.things are progressing quite nicely.I tested the old desktop with his account, in my office, and it locks ok. I was thinking this morning that it might even be his local profile on his laptop or desktop, but since the desktop locked in my office, then that negates that as the cause, and provesthat the GPO is working as it should.I undocked his laptop, and only had internet plugged in (in case he came back into his office out of a meeting he's in), and it locked. So, this narrows it down to either the docking station, the usb hub, the usb printer, or something that's plugged into theusb hub (keyboard/mouse) that is keeping it from locking. This makes sense since all of these items were plugged into the desktop also, and the desktop wouldn't lock either.I'll report with the resolution/cause of this issue once I have it narrowed down, so that in case anyone runs into this problem in the future, it may assist in them getting a quicker resolution compared to the days and days it's taken me to get it narroweddown to what it is so far.Neil.
