The Century Arms PW87 12-gauge shotgun is a rolling block, lever-action shotgun based on an early design by John Browning. The nostalgic look of this shotgun brings us to yesteryear. The PW87 shotgun includes a steel construction with an oiled walnut stock. A sawn-off Winchester 1887 appears as the 'Lever-action Shotgun'. Unlike the real weapon, it is chambered for 20 gauge shells. It is not the most common. This is my first nifscope weapon. It always bothered me that the lever action shotgun didn't have a stock so i went to work. I took the single shotgun stock and added it to the lever action shotgun using blender and nifscope. Fairly simple mod no stats were changed to the weapon just renamed it to the lever action 20GA. This mod adds one new lever action weapon to New Vegas that offers the user a choice to use either.45-70 rounds or 12 Guage shotgun shells. The weapon has a story to it to help it fit in with the lore of the game. You can switch between the different ammunition types at a workbench provided you have the necessary materials. The shotgun you're using, the single shotgun, actually has the second tightest spread of a shotgun in the game, the first is a unique shotgun called Dinnerbell. So the reason you need to aim with it is just that; it's a tight spread shotgun. However there are shotguns with different spreads such as the sawed off shotgun and the riot shotgun, etc.A little later in the game, not too far from where you are now, you might find the caravan shotgun, which has more spread then the single shotgun and a bigger clip.So yeah, you just have a really tight spread shotgun right now. There's only one shotgun better then it which is later in the game. Fallout actually does better with this than almost any game I know. Shotguns are 'scattered' compared to firing a bullet - at 20 yards, you're maybe looking to get targets in a 2 foot circle instead of a 1/3 inch circle. That's still a tiny radius (especially if you want most of the shot to hit) - they're made for killing birds at range, not murdering rooms of bad guys. A sawed-off is a different story, but then you're only going to do reliable damage out to 10 or 20 feet. The standard Halo/CoD shotgun feels more like a claymore to me. I just noticed this post. I am not sure which shotgun you were using but, each weapon has a set requirement to use it effectively. ![]() Fallout New Vegas Unique Lever Action Shotgun ModI have a HUGE Google Document on weapons and other mechanics explaining this.
